Redleif House, Yeovil – Care Home

Redleif House

Where Did Our Name come from

Rob’s Dad was a carpenter by trade and a builder of homes. The house name was on the wall by the front door of his family home throughout the 60s,70s, 80s,90s and 00s. After the sudden passing of his father 16 years ago the family home was sold.

In between lockdowns Rob took a drive down memory lane and drove past the old family home, pulling over to take a closer look, to his surprise and astonishment he noticed the house name was still on the wall in the same place.
He knew he wanted that back, so placing the face mask on and with plenty of courage walked down the drive, pass many ghosts of the past and knocked on the front door. After explaining who he was, asked for the house name back. The new owners were happy to oblige and he left with the house sign and a head full of memories.

The house name/sign is now on the wall of Redleif House in Yeovil, Redleif Care’s new home for people in later years

Rob can remember to this day, standing outside the front door of the family home with his dad asking why he called their home Redleif, he said son ”it’s your surname spelt backwards”, a story he never forgot. When Rob started the care business with Melissa, naming the business was simple.

Yes we have new signage for Redleif House with our logo on, which is modern and on trend, but this old Redleif sign made by a carpenter back in the 1960s, a dad working hard raising a young family, will stay on the wall of it’s new home as an acknowledgment to the past and his Dad.

We must never forget our past and where we have come from…
